Brownrigg Agriculture is a progressive agricultural business, supplying to NZ and the world from our operations based 20-minutes south of Hastings. Our platform and portfolio of crops and forages is expanding, bringing with it an increased operational requirement of getting things done right and on time. Our Agronomy team oversees the planning, care and wellbeing of all our crops, pastures and forages across our cropping and livestock enterprises. Reporting to our Agronomy Manager, and working closely with the wider team, you will lead our pasture, forage and arable crop programme. With an emphasis on timely implementation of plans, precision and effective use of inputs and resources you will help the business achieve high performance plant production. The farm is one of 8 properties based in the Hawkes Bay located in the Poukawa area 15 minutes south of Hastings. It is 480ha covering flat to easy hill country. Our livestock business is centred around winter lamb finishing, a Wagyu breeding herd with progeny grown out for our grain finished feedlot programme and a 2-year bull beef policy. The business also grows a range of cash crops such as squash, maize, onions and barley. LIVESTOCK MANAGER ROLE Reports to and works closely with the Livestock Operations Manager to develop farm operations for high productivity and best use of resources Responsible for implementing plans and organising daily operations on farm, pasture management and feed budgeting Staff management – mentoring and developing good shepherding practices and leading by example Livestock management – monitoring animal health, planning all stock movements, maintaining accurate tallies A strong team of working dogs (min 3) This is a hands-on role requiring experienced stockmanship, strong communication skills with a positive, practical approach.
