We are a large, progressive farming business with operations across livestock and cropping, based 20 minutes south of Hastings, Hawke’s Bay. Our livestock business is centered around winter lamb finishing, a Wagyu breeding herd with progeny grown out for our grain finished feedlot programme, and a two-year bull beef policy. The Livestock Manager pulls these elements together in a hands-on role that requires strong stockmanship, excellent communication skills and a positive, practical approach. The Livestock Manager role: Reports to and works closely with the Livestock Operations Manager to develop a farm plan aiming for high productivity and best use of resources. Responsible for implementing that plan and organising daily operations on farm, pasture management, and feed budgeting. Team management – mentoring and developing good shepherding practices and leading by example. Livestock management – monitoring animal health, planning all stock movements, maintaining accurate tallies. You will need a strong team of working dogs for this role. Our John Deere tractors are getting their pre-season polish – now we need the right people to operate them. Brownrigg Agriculture is a large, progressive farming business with operations across livestock and cropping, based 20 minutes south of Hastings, Hawkes Bay. We are looking for some seasonal superstars to bolster our team to help us get our squash, onions, and maize in and out of the fertile Hawkes Bay soils. These seasonal fixed-term positions start in early September and run through until the end of April 2021. For the right person, this could develop into a permanent role. The right people will have: At least two years tractor operating experience, preferably in cropping but other types also welcome. A current full Class 1 driver’s licence with a good driving history. A solid work ethic with a practical approach to problem solving. A willingness to embrace technology and precision agriculture. Brownrigg Agriculture is the pioneer of Wagyu beef breeding in NZ and we are looking for people with the same practical, problem-solving mindset to help us perfect our finishing feedlot. Nestled in the hills of the Poukawa Valley, 20 minutes south of Hastings, our Wagyu cattle are being carefully managed to supply marbled meat so tender that it commands some of the highest premiums in the world.
