Brownrigg Agriculture is a large, progressive farming business with operations across livestock and cropping, based 20 minutes south of Hastings, Hawke’s Bay. We have two permanent roles for confident truck drivers who are also comfortable around livestock to fill our team. Role No 1: Experienced Livestock Truck Driver with a full Class 5 licence. Based in our Trucking team, the work is primarily short-haul and varied, covering: Livestock; Cropping – field to post-harvest facilities; General cartage – fertiliser, wool. To be successful, you will: Hold a clean Full NZ Class 5 licence; Have stock handling experience; Be physically fit; Be flexible (able to work extended hours during busy seasons); Enjoy a team environment but able to work on your own; Have excellent communication skills, be reliable, with a positive attitude. Role No. 2: Experienced machinery operator comfortable working with cattle, with a full Class 4 licence. Based in our Feedlot team, as a Feedlot Operator your time will be split between truck driving (short haul), tractor operation (feeding out), general farm maintenance, and cattle handling. To be successful, you will: Hold a clean Full NZ Class 4 licence; Be comfortable around cattle and care about their welfare; Be physically fit; Have basic farm maintenance skills. We are looking for some seasonal superstars to bolster our team to help us get our squash, onions, and maize in and out of the fertile Hawkes Bay soils. These seasonal fixed-term positions start in early September and run through until the end of April 2021. For the right person, this could develop into a permanent role. The right people will have: At least two years tractor operating experience, preferably in cropping but other types also welcome. A current full Class 1 driver’s licence with a good driving history. A solid work ethic with a practical approach to problem solving. A willingness to embrace technology and precision agriculture. Brownrigg Agriculture is the pioneer of Wagyu beef breeding in NZ and we are looking for someone with the same practical, problem-solving mindset to help us perfect our finishing feedlot. Nestled in the hills of the Poukawa Valley, 20 minutes south of Hastings, our Wagyu cattle are being carefully managed to supply marbled meat so tender that it commands some of the highest premiums in the world.
