Take the next step in your farming career – join an industry-leader as a Livestock Manager to learn the art and the science of effective finishing systems.
We are a large, progressive farming business with operations across livestock and cropping, based 20 minutes south of Hastings, Hawke’s Bay. Our livestock business is centered around winter lamb finishing, a Wagyu breeding herd with progeny grown out for our grain finished feedlot programme, and a two-year bull beef policy.
The key to our success is strong systems mixed with smart people, matching our land type to forages that unlock the potential of our Hawke’s Bay soils and climate. The Livestock Manager pulls these elements together in a hands-on role that requires strong stockmanship, excellent communication skills and a positive, practical approach.
The Livestock Manager role:
- Reports to and works closely with the Livestock Operations Manager to develop a farm plan aiming for high productivity and best use of resources.
- Responsible for implementing that plan and organising daily operations on farm, pasture management, and feed budgeting.
- Team management – mentoring and developing good shepherding practices and leading by example.
- Livestock management – monitoring animal health, planning all stock movements, maintaining accurate tallies.
You will need a strong team of working dogs for this role.
We offer exposure to a range of innovative farming practices, and the opportunity to be part of a progressive business full of passionate and knowledgeable people.
Our proximity to town gives opportunities for those with families and singles alike, with a wide range of schooling, sports, social and outdoor pursuits nearby, along with employment opportunities for partners.
